Dennis Reuter graduated from the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis in 1972, receiving his degree in Philosophy. Dennis earned his Juris Doctor from Arizona State University College of Law in Tempe in 1976.

After law school, Dennis was admitted to the Arizona State Bar where he opened his own practice providing representation in both Criminal and Civil Law. In 1977, he accepted a prestigious position as a Judicial Law Clerk in the Maricopa County Superior Court. In 1979, he became a Judge Pro Tem in Tempe while also practicing Criminal Defense Law in Phoenix. Throughout the 1980s and 1990s Dennis was a Prosecutor, Criminal Defense Attorney and represented clients in matters pertaining to Commercial Law, Intellectual Property, Copyright and Trademark issues and Family Law.

In 2000, Dennis moved to North Idaho where he was admitted to practice and immediately joined the Kootenai County Public Defender's office in Coeur d'Alene, focusing on felony and child protection cases. From 2003 to 2009, Dennis was also a Member of the Idaho Misdemeanor Rules Committee. In 2009, Dennis reentered private practice.

In 2004, Dennis received the "Jury Trial Attorney of the Year" award and, in 2010, the "David Nevin Professionalism" award for his outstanding work in the legal field; both awards were presented to him by the Idaho Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.

In 2006, Dennis served as the President of the First District Bar Association for North Idaho.      

In his career he has represented clients in over two-hundred jury trials and over a thousand criminal cases. Today, Dennis focuses primarily on Criminal Defense law.  Dennis has often provided educational lectures for the Kootenai County Bar Association, National Alliance on Mental Illness, the Idaho Association of Criminal Defense Attorneys and several other organizations.
     
Dennis is a member in good standing with the Idaho State Bar Association.
